| Mission | RIO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL is the biggest and most charming festival of Latin America. Last year, over a period of 15 days, the Festival exhibited 347 films, including 48 Brazilian ones, in 1261 sessions for 230 thousand spectators and received around 200 foreign guests, among whom executives, producers and directors of 60 countries, from Thailand to South Africa, including the USA , Germany and France. All the big companies of the international cinematographic industry, from the American majors to the independent studios, were present at the exhibition venues and, especially, at the Festival business meetings.
Since 1999, the Festival has welcomed talent like Roman Polanski, Louis Malle, Forest Whitaker, Carlos Saura, Harvey Keitel, Terence Davies, Moufida Tlatli, Isabelle Huppert, Peter Greenaway, Abderrahmane Sissako, Stephen Frears, Hanna Schygulla, John Waters, Todd Solondz, François Ozon, Charlotte Rampling, Costa-Gravas, Tom Tykwer, Samuel L. Jackson and many others.
Besides the films in exhibition, an important segmento of Rio Int'l Film Festival 2005 is Rio Screenings & Seminars, which includes the market and seminars.
Bringing together the most important executives from the different sectors of audiovisual (Cinema, TV, Home Entertainment and Internet), who participate in international seminars, watch the most recent Brazilian and foreign productions and do business. |
