| Festival Overview |
| Mission | REBELFEST is a non-profit Festival, a showcase for truly independent films that have received no government funds and have not been produced through the 'established' film institutes or film centres. As the larger festivals become increasingly 'Hollywood Friendly' important new Artists are overlooked as influence and old allegiances continue to be served. The creation of a new selection committee every year will enable REBELFEST to stay on the cutting edge. |
| History | Rebelfest was created in 2004 and featured 3 days of screening of shorts and feature films. Rebelfest 05 expanded to 5 days and included a new music video and student category. Harvey Keitel presented Michael Madsen with the Inaugural Equinoxe Rebel Award for outstanding contribution to independent film. In 06, Rebelfest continues to grow with seminars by industry leaders and screening of over 70 features, shorts and music videos |
