Festival Overview
Mission
ReelWorld Film Festival's vision is to change the face of the Canadian film and video industry behind the scenes and on the screens. The cinematic form has become its own global language; learning through narrative film may be one of the most valued and efficient teaching tools we have. ReelWorld Film Festival is Canada's premiere non-profit film festival dedicated to nurturing, promoting and celebrating the full spectrum of racially and culturally diverse films and video.

Each year, thousands of filmmakers, film lovers, industry visionaries and international media gather in Toronto to experience ReelWorld Film Festival. It provides a unique environment for film going audiences, as well as stimulating interaction between emerging artists and established professionals from all facets of the industry to network, share and support each other.

ReelWorld Film Festival is the only festival of its kind that showcases Canada's truly diverse talent in the entertainment industry.
History
Founded by Tonya Lee Williams in 1999, ReelWorld's vision is the creation of a Canadian film industry that will produce internationally competitive films and videos by racially and culturally diverse film and video makers. At ReelWorld, our mission is to recognize the excellence and and achievement of emerging diversity in film, video, and new media. This will be accomplished by meeting four main objectives:
Showcase and promote the work of diverse film and video makers and film artists to Canadian and international audiences.

Facilitate a forum where film and video makers and other film artists can interact and pitch their ideas to producers and investors.

Bring together film artists from diverse Canadian communities to network, dialogue, share, critique, and support each other's work and relevant works from the international community.

To provide training through seminars, workshops, and special events aimed at the racially and culturally diverse Canadian film and video making community.

ReelWorld Film Festival has grown over the last few years to include a Children's and Youth's Series, Diversity At Our Doorstep as well as the Industry Series which features workshops and panels for emerging and established filmmakers and industry professionals.
